Malta’s U21 Football Team Scores 2-0 Win Against Northern Ireland


Malta’s Under 21s football team went out to dominate the pitch as they beat Northern Ireland in a 2-0 win on Tuesday night as part of the UEFA European U21 Championship Group C match in Mourneview Park in Belfast, Northern Ireland.



The goals were scored by Marcus Grima at 49 minutes and Andreas Vella at 88 minutes as a red card set back Ireland’s Trai Hume. In the meantime, Maltese goalkeeper Cain Formosa managed to defeat any goal attempts coming from the likes of Ireland’s Dale Taylor.


Following the match, The Malta Football Association praised the boys’ victory, sharing: ‘jubilant moments followed this terrific win for the boys in red’.



Many joined in on the praise, with several people taking to social media and posting that ‘hard work pays off’, reassuring the team that they were making the country proud.
