Malta’s most popular baby names have been revealed.
Emma topped the list, which recorded names given to babies born in Malta over the past 12 months, retaining the spot it has held for four years.
Mia came second with Olivia in third place.
Abbie, Elizabeth, Eve, Lottie, Lucy and Scarlett all popped up as new entries on the top 100 for girls.
Noah was the most popular boy’s name in Malta, despite not featuring in the top three last year.
It was followed by Luca, which dropped from first to second place, and Jack rounding off the top three.
A spokeswoman from Malta’s Public Registry said: ‘Choosing the name of your baby is incredibly important, in most cases their name will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
‘It is always fun to see the names parents in Malta and Gozo are choosing and how it varies year to year.
‘We are seeing more unique names in the rankings, showing us that parents put a lot of thought into choosing exactly the right names for their babies.’
