Malta’s airport enjoys its busiest July ever

Malta’s airport has celebrated a record-breaking July.

Almost 800,000 passengers took off or landed at Luqa last month, that’s up nearly 6 per cent on the same time last year.

On average around 25,700 people – the equivalent of the population of Malta’s largest town, St Paul’s Bay – used the airport on a daily basis.

Out on the airfield, it was also busy with more than 5,000 take-offs and landings throughout July.

Several new routes from Malta were launched last month, including services to Cardiff, Exeter, Genoa, Verona, Lamezia and Perugia.

Where did most passengers to Malta arrive from?

  • 1. United Kingdom +3.9 per cent
  • 2. Italy +1.5 per cent
  • 3. Germany +18.2 per cent
  • 4. France +6.8 per cent
  • 5. Spain +10 per cent
