The Floor Wars FootWork contest went down in Milan over the weekend, and for the first time ever, a Maltese participant, Liston Bongailas, not only made it to the final, but finished in second place!
30 contestants were battling it out for a place in the final of The FootWork Battle. Their ticket to the final involved impressing one judge with their break dancing footwork skills.
“It’s a dream. I worked hard to get to this point. It feels more like I won a million euros. This is the first time that my country has won a trophy in an international event like this,” he shares.
Liston shares the key to creating his impressive, signature footwork.
“The key thing is creating quality and original moves. It is also about believing in your own style, then including key elements of break-dancing footwork into your style.”
“The level of competition was high and I didn’t expect to make it past the top eight,” he said.
This was the first time a Maltese break-dancer made it to the final of an international battle.
A huge well done to Liston!
