Malta has beaten out Belfast and Rotterdam in a bid to host EuroPride 2023. The bid was launched by Malta’s Allied Rainbow Communities and won 54% of the vote of the members of the European Pride Organisers’ Association.

ARC have said that they are “deeply grateful and humbled by the show of support” and “will work tirelessly with all stakeholders to deliver an experience of love and growth for our LGBTIQ+ community and Allies in Malta and beyond our shores”.
EuroPride is the most significant European LGBTIQ+ event and brings in thousands of participants and attendees every year for an event focused on celebrating queer art, culture and human rights.

The week and a half long event will take place between the 7th and 17th of September 2023 in Valletta and nearby towns with the central theme of #EqualityFromTheHeart.
The following activities have been proposed for the event:
- Queer art and culture festival
- Human rights conference
- LGBTIQ+ at work conference
- Interfaith dialogue
- Community flora
- Pride Village
- Pride march and concert
- Parties and social gatherings
In recent years, Malta has become a pioneer for LGBTIQ+ rights and has consistently topped the ILGA-Europe benchmark since 2016.
