On Thursday, UEFA confirmed that the VAR will be used for the rest of the 2020 World Cup Qualifiers in Qatar…
In agreement with FIFA, UEFA has announced that from day 4 of the groups – whose games will commence next September – the VAR system will be used in every stadium.
Initial plans to use the VAR in qualifying games had to be postponed due to logistical complications and risks associated with the ongoing pandemic. But now, the implementation of the VAR will be maintained in the stadium of the host country, with the specific use of specially provided vans from UEFA.
This will mark the first time that the VAR will be used in Malta. The VAR will be implemented as of 1st September, when Malta’s national team is set to play against Cyprus in Ta ’Qali.
