Malta takes a vote: When is it acceptable to start decorating for Christmas?

A recent post on popular Facebook group has gotten people talking.

‘Has anyone already started decorating for Christmas?’ – and with that, the crowd went wild.

The majority agreed … it’s too early to start decorating now.

“Jien zgur li le! Kemm nobghod adu Novembru! Dicembru hu ix xahar tal Milied! Inhallu kollox ghal zmienu.”

Many even argued that decorating throughout the month of November is disrespectful towards the deceased, given that November is officially the month dedicated to those who have passed away.

“Jien fl-1 ta Dicembru narma. Novembru huwa xahar ta dawk li hallewna umbat inti taf ux kif thoss ghamel.”

While some wait till the end of November to bring out the big Christmas guns, others wait for the 8th of December to really get into the Christmas spirit.

On the other hand, there are those who have semi-decorated their house.

They’ve taken out the Christmas tree but till now, it’s still bare – no decorations on it yet.

And then, there are those who have already decked the halls with boughs of holly, and spend most of their recent evenings rocking around the Christmas tree.

Their house is done and decorated, with Christmas decorations and joy.

“Ejjew fejn noqoghod jien hawn funny l’ewwel gurnata ta Novembru.”

What do you think?

When is it acceptable to start decorating your house with Christmas decorations?
