Malta Police seize drugs worth €100,000 in car

Three men are due to appear in court in Valletta after drugs with a street value of €100,000 were found in a car.

The trio, aged between 25 and 40, were arrested after officers discovered around 1.5 kilos of suspected cocaine in several bags on the back seat.

Apart from the drugs, officers also found a bag containing almost €64,000 in cash.

Police told 89.7 Bay that two of the men are Libyan while the third is Maltese.

The arrests were made at around 2.30pm on Wednesday in Industrial Street in Kirkop in an operation involving the Drug Squad and the Rapid Intervention Unit.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke has launched an inquiry.
