Malta Police make seven arrests after drugs raid

Malta Police have made seven arrests following a drugs raid in Bugibba.

A large bag of what was suspected to be cocaine was allegedly discovered in a flat off Tourists Street.

Police said that the raid in Mazzola Street uncovered 20g of white powder as well as well as possible traces of heroin and the paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking.

The owner of the flat was arrested as well as five men and a woman.

A police spokesman told 89.7 Bay: ‘Qawra District Police assisted by the Rapid Intervention Unit and Dog section raided a private residence in Mazzola Street, St Paul’s Bay.

‘During the search, several items related to drug trafficking and possession were found.

‘The owner of the residence, together with five men and woman, aged between 33 and 55 years, were arrested during the raid.

‘Animal welfare officers were also called to assist in handling of the dogs that were on site.

‘Investigations by the Qawra Police are ongoing, while the owner of the residence is expected to appear in court in the coming days.’
