Malta National Water Polo team in Budapest for the LEN European Water Polo Championships

It’s been exactly five days since Malta’s national Water Polo team jetted off to Budapest, for the third time, to represent our country in the LEN European Water Polo Championships.

Unfortunately, Malta met their match against Spain, in the first match that went down last Tuesday 14th January. The team still pulled off a great game from their end. The match ended with Spain well in the lead, however, it was still a win for Malta. This was the most Malta had ever scored against the Spanish team.

Malta played once more, at 11.30 am on Thursday 16th January, against Turkey. So far in these Championships, Malta faced Turkey twice, and both matches ended in a draw, moved on to penalties resulting in both teams winning one match each. This time around, Malta suffers a defeat after finishing off the match with a score of 10-13 in Turkey’s favour.

We will see Malta play once more on Saturday, 18th January, against Hungary at 19:00.

You can tune in to TVM2 to watch the games and show your support!

A huge good luck to Malta’s National Water Polo team for the remaining games.
