Malta has been ranked among the world’s happiest nations in a new survey.
Malta also scored well for personal safety, security and freedom in the latest Global Prosperity Index.
London-based charity The Legatum Institute looked at more than 100 different factors to determine the most ‘prosperous’ country on the planet.
Overall, Malta was ranked the 19th best place to live in the world, ahead of France, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and Italy.
The survey also found people in Malta were generally healthier than those in Britain, Germany, Canada and Ireland – despite Malta’s child obesity crisis.
Other measures included in the Prosperity Index were economic quality, business environment, governance, education and natural environment.
Each country was ranked by each of these measures – the top three overall were Norway, New Zealand and Finland.
