Malta is more popular than ever this summer, according to new tourism figures.
Malta’s airport has broken all records with passenger numbers soaring by 12 percent last month.
The number of people flying to and from Malta in July stood at an astonishing 756,356 – the highest figure ever.
Airport bosses expect to welcome around 6.8 million passengers by the end of the year.
A spokeswoman told 89.7 Bay: ‘Last month’s upswing in passengers was observed in parallel with an 11.3 per cent increase in aircraft movements and a rise of 11.5 per cent in seat capacity.
‘Our 100-destination summer schedule did in no small part contribute to July’s strong performance.’
Malta’s top five tourist markets have remained unchanged since April, with the UK at number one followed by Italy, Germany, France and Spain.
