Malta hosts Europe’s biggest live poker tournament

Malta is hosting Europe’s biggest live poker tournament.

A record 4,000 competitors have been taking part in the five-day event at Intercontinental Malta in St Julian’s.

Now in its seventh year, the annual Maltese tournament is bigger than ever distributing over €2.5 million in prizes.

After four days, only 60 proud poker players remain in the main competition.

The champion of this year’s Battle of Malta will be crowned on Tuesday evening at the Intercontinental Arena Conference Centre.

Former world tennis champion Boris Becker was also there.

He took part in a special fundraising event in aid of the Pink October breast cancer awareness campaign, where around €20,000 was collected for charity.
