Enemalta has apologised to its customers after Malta was hit by a second major power cut in 24 hours.
Electricity was cut off in several areas on Monday afternoon, including Gozo, Mellieha, St Paul’s Bay, St Julian’s, Swieqi, Qormi and Valletta.
89.7 Bay listeners in Naxxar, Birkirkara, Mosta and Swatar reported that power was restored ‘within around 20 minutes’ after the electricity went off at around 11.55am.
On Sunday night, Enemalta battled to restore the power supply after a blackout affected dozens of towns and villages.
The energy company also had to contend with two nationwide power cuts this month.
Angry customers took to social media to blast Enemalta, with some describing the situation as ‘hopeless’.
One wrote: ‘Do you provide free candles because the stores are running out!’
Another blasted: ‘Keep Delimara Power Station on and turn off Interconnector until it is fixed!’
A third posted: ‘And Malta thinks it can build a tunnel under the sea to Gozo?!’
