Say hello to Malta’s very first Malta Film Awards, thanks to the Malta Film Commission, who aims to ‘celebrate the success story of our local cast and crew of the film and television industry throughout the years.’!
In other words, these film awards will thrive to celebrate Malta, as well as those working in the industry over the years. This comes in honour of all those who have dreamt to make production and all of those dreaming to form part of Malta’s film industry!
The Awards will be judged by a panel of selected local and international professionals. The Malta Film Commissioner and CEO of the Malta Film Studios, Johann Grech, has always emphasised the importance of local cast and crews in the industry. As he shared, “It was our people’s ambition and our crew’s ability that kept our film industry working, from one generation to the next.”.
The Malta Film Commission will also be partnering with the Public Broadcasting Services (PBS) to coordinate these Awards in 2022. As the executive chairman of PBS, Mark Sammut, revealed: “Today, the Malta Film Commission and Public Broadcasting Services, are joining forces to award the efforts and creativity of all those who have worked in local television and film, throughout this story of success.”
Minister Carmelo Abela also remarked that Malta is “A small country but a great nation. A winning nation, where talent always stood out.”
Submissions for the Malta Film Awards may be received from Wednesday 29th September till Friday 29th October 2021.
The Malta Film Awards will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in February 2022.
