Yesterday’s match against Sweden was a match to remember, even if not for all the right reasons.
After an auspicious attempt, Malta fails to qualify to the next qualifying round of the Euro 2020, but it’s not due to lack of trying.
The Swedish football team scored their first goal in the first 15 minutes of the game and it all went downhill from there.
Two penalties and an own goal later, the match finished off with an end score of 0-4 in Sweden’s favour.
But all hope is not lost, as Malta’s next mission is to score enough goals in their next match against the Faroe Islands this Tuesday, 15th October, to not end up last in their group.
Malta is currently fifth in its group with three points.
Faroe Islands have no points at all with Malta even having a superior goal difference.
If Malta wins or draws the game, they will move a step closer towards finishing the group in a position other than last.
Despite the loss in yesterday’s game, we are still very proud of the whole team!
Better luck next time boys.
