Malta Eurovision 2024 Will Not Have Live Final Performance

The 2024 Malta Eurovision Song Contest just shared its new rules, and there are some big twists.

There will be a longer period for the first round where songs compete, which might start in October.

People can start sending in their songs from August 28, 2023, until September 30, 2023. After that, the chosen singers will perform on TV over a few weeks. Only 12 songs will make it to the final stage and the winners will be picked by a group of judges as well as the general public.

But here’s the twist: during the final show, the singers won’t sing live. Instead, they will record their songs in December 2023 and choose the best version out of three tries. They will have an hour to do this.

Also, the 12 finalists will get €5,000 each to make music videos. These videos will be shown on the big night of the final. After everyone watches the recorded performances and music videos, the judges and the public’s votes will decide the winner. This winning song will be Malta’s choice for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Sweden.
