Malta braced for heavy rain and strong winds this week

Malta is braced for heavy rain and strong winds this week with the Met Office having issued a weather warning.

Some areas can expect gale force winds at times while much of Malta and Gozo is set to be inundated with thundery showers until the weekend.

Temperatures are set to feel as chilly as 7°C  overnight.

A spokesman for the Met Office in Luqa said: ‘The northwest wind will become strong at times across exposed areas. Thunderstorms are affecting the Maltese Islands.’

The weather warning is in place until 8pm on Monday evening and there’s expected to be travel disruption as a result.

Meanwhile Malta Weather predicted a ‘miserable week’ for Malta and Gozo.

It said: ‘We’re expecting strong winds up to gale force at times, rain showers that may be thundery and temperatures feeling as cold as 7°C this week.’
