Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson opens up about online abuse

Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has opened up about how online trolls affected her mental heath.

The singer, 28, revealed she even tried to take her own life at one low point.

In a candid and tearful moment, Jesy recalled how she took an overdose after taunts about her looks became too much to bear.

She said she was’obsessed’ with reading negative comments about herself after she found fame on the X Factor in 2011.

Jesy added: ‘It got worse when I got Twitter.

‘And that led to the Daily Mail comments section – the worst you can read about yourself.

‘I’d type in the search bar, ‘Jesy fat’, or ‘Jesy ugly’, and see what would come up.

Sometimes I didn’t even need to do that, I’d just write ‘Jesy’ and then I’d see all the horrible things.

‘Everyone told me to ignore it but it was like an addiction.’

Jesy admitted she would starve herself before TV performances or video shoots and then binge eat afterwards.

The singer opens up about her struggles in a new BBC documentary ‘Jesy Nelson: Odd One Out’.
