Listen: Taylor Swift sparks engagement rumours with new song

Taylor Swift’s new single has left fans speculating over whether the star is engaged to her boyfriend Joe Alwyn.

The 89.7 Bay hitmaker released a lyric video for the track called ‘Lover’ which is her third release from her upcoming album.

The song sees Taylor return to her country roots after the massive Bay hits ‘Me’ and ‘You Need To Calm Down’.

She refers to wedding vows as she sings: ‘Ladies and gentleman, Will you please stand, With every guitar string scar on my hand, I take this magnetic force of a man, To be my lover.’

The lines ‘I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, and I want them all’ are also thought to be a reference to British actor Alwyn, who she first met in 2016.

Fans quickly took to social media to praise the new track.

One posted: ‘This song is so beautiful it’s definitely my new favourite. I love you Taylor you inspire me so much! I started writing my own songs because of you!’

Another added: ‘The more I listen, the more I like this song.’

A third wrote: ‘Everyone please scream THANK YOU JOE ALWYN because he deserves it. This song is a masterpiece.’
