Joseph Calleja has praised the ‘extraordinary level’ of talent in Malta and Gozo, claiming ‘there seems to be something in the air’.
The world-famous opera star, who has performed for The Queen at Buckingham Palace and President Barack Obama at the White House, said Malta was ‘punching well above its weight’ when it came to creative talent.
The Maltese tenor was speaking on TVM’s Xtra Sajf programme presented by Malta Today‘s Saviour Balzan.
His own musical journey continues, as he will soon be performing an opera by Vedri in Chicago.
Asked whether he has yet reached his peak, he joked: ‘We’ll know in 20 years’ time.
‘Let’s just say that my voice hasn’t diminished yet.’
