It’s Now Official! The Fantastic Beasts Franchise Has a New Grindelwald!

Taking over from Johnny Depp, Mads Mikkelsen has now officially been cast as Gellert Grindelwald, following an announcement by Warner Bros.

Fantastic Beasts 3 Officially Casts Mads Mikkelsen To Replace Johnny Depp

Mikkelsen has reportedly been director David Yates’ top choice for the past two weeks after Depp agreed to step down from the sequel due to his legal troubles in the UK.

Hand on heart, we can safely say that this is quite an upgrade, because not only Mikkelsen is a terrific actor, but there is something about him which just makes him look the part of an evil wizard – plus the audience will definitely recognise him from big movies such as Casino Royale and Doctor Strange, to mention just two!

Fantastic Beasts 3 sees Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne reprise his role as Newt Scamander alongside Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Callum Turner, William Nadylam, Poppy Corby-Tuech, Jessica Williams, Victoria Yeates, and two-time Oscar nominee Jude Law, who plays Dumbledore.
