Italian Chocolatiers Turn Malta Into Chocolate

Malta has never looked so yummy!

The Chocolate Museum of Modica, Italy, recently unveiled a remarkable high-relief sculpture crafted entirely from chocolate, featuring the red and white Maltese flag, showcased in a dedicated room dedicated to Malta within the museum. Malta’s Planning Minister, Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, was granted a private tour of this exhibition.

Accompanied by Professor Uccio Barone, he sought to delve into the history of Europe’s first and only IGP-certified chocolate. The twinning of Modica, Italy, and Xemxija, Malta, in 2016 further solidified the bonds between these two nations.

Notably, Italian chocolatiers mentioned Ħamrun and its Chocolate Festival, scheduled for October 21st.

Nino Scivoletto, President of the European Cultural Association ‘La Via del Cioccolato – The Chocolate Way,’ informed Zrinzo Azzopardi that Malta had become a prominent stop on the European Cultural Route, with Ħamrun’s Chocolate Festival putting Malta on the cocoa aficionados’ map.

Zrinzo Azzopardi and his family had the delightful opportunity to savor some authentic Modica PGI chocolate during their visit to the sweet museum.
