Lucasfilm president, Kathleen Kennedy, has confirmed that Harrison Ford, who plays the famed archaeologist, will return to the iconic franchise in February, and the movie will be released in July 2022.
Back in February, it was confirmed by Kennedy that Ford, who is now 78 years old, would be returning as Indiana Jones. Kennedy also shared, “We’re working away, getting the script where we want it to be and then we’ll be ready to go”. She also stated that the film will be a reboot, not a continuation.
Ford has played the role of Indiana Jones in four movies, starting with Raiders of the Lost Ark back in 1981, Temple of Doom (1984), The Last Crusade (1989), and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008).
In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Ford starred alongside Sean Connery in 1989, who played Ford’s father. Recently in November, Ford paid tribute to the James Bond star, following his death, “He was my father… not in life… but in ‘Indy 3…You don’t know pleasure until someone pays you to take Sean Connery for a ride in the side car of a Russian motorcycle bouncing along a bumpy, twisty mountain trail and getting to watch him squirm.”
Needless to say, we’re psyched to see the upcoming movie on the big screen at Eden Cinemas!
