Iceberg The Size Of London Breaks Off Of Antarctica

A massive iceberg, measuring 600 square miles, has calved from the Brunt Ice Shelf in Antarctica 🧊

This marks the second significant break-off in the area in the past two years. However, researchers at the British Antarctic Survey assure that this event is a natural occurrence and not a result of climate change.

“This phenomenon is normal in this region, it is well below freezing and the calving is not caused by climate change,” said Professor Dominic Hodgson, a glaciologist at the British Antarctic Survey.

The break-off is a reminder of the constantly changing nature of Antarctica and the ongoing research needed to understand its dynamics.
