Ian Somerhalder Rules Out A Ninth Season For Vampire Diaries

 

The Vampire Diaries’ star, Ian Somerhalder, who is best-known for playing bad-boy vampire Damon Salvatore, has shared that he is not interested in reprising his role, should the show return for a ninth season.

The beloved series aired between 2009 and 2017, and concluded with eight seasons, having aired 171 episodes in total. The show then also spawned two spin-offs, The Originals, and Legacies.

 

 

In a recent interview with Andy Cohen, Ian addressed online rumours that another season could take place if he and Nina Dobrev were on board, explaining, ‘I have not heard anything about a season nine…I mean, like, what would happen? Stefan and Damon…Damon has, like, grey hair and…they have canes?’

He added, ‘Listen, it ran a great course and now it’s still living. That’s what’s so amazing. It’s still living.’

 

 

And if you haven’t seen the show, The Vampire Diaries is an American supernatural teen drama based on a popular series of L.J. Smith books of the same name.
