Here’s when buses will be running in Malta over Christmas

Malta’s buses will soon begin operating their festive timetables, so make sure you’re clued up on the changes if you plan to be on the go this Christmas.

Malta Public Transport will operate on a reduced schedule during Christmas week, starting from Monday 23 December.

The service is due to return to normal on Wednesday 2 January 2020.

Here’s all the information you need to know!

Monday 23 December

Buses will operate on the Saturday schedule.

Routes 49 to Melieha Bay, 50 to Rabat and 90 to Zabbar will remain in normal operation, however only routes N13 and N212 will be in service at night.

 

Christmas Eve

Buses will run according to the Saturday timetable.

The 49 to Mellieha Bay, 50 to Rabat and 90 to Zabbar will operate as normal and all night routes will be in operation.

 

Christmas Day

All routes will operate on the Sunday schedule.

No buses will run between 12pm and 3pm with the last buses departing between 10am and 11.30am, depending on the length of the journey.

The bus service will then resume between 3pm and 4pm, according to their schedules.

The service will end at 9pm, with the last buses departing between 7.30pm and 8pm depending on the length of the route.

Night buses will not be in operation.

Malta Public Transport’s ticket booths and the main customer call centre will be closed.

 

Boxing Day

On Thursday 26 December, buses will run according to the Saturday timetable.

Routes 49 to Mellieha Bay, 50 to Rabat and 90 to Żabbar will remain in normal operation.

Only routes N13 and N212 will operate at night.

 

Friday 27 December

Journeys will operate on the Saturday schedule.

Routes 49 to Mellieha Bay, 50 to Rabat and 90 to Żabbar will remain in normal operation and all Night Buses will run as normal.

 

Saturday 28 December

The normal Saturday service across Malta and Gozo.

 

Sunday 29 December

The normal Sunday service will operate across Malta and Gozo.

 

Monday 30 December

Buses will run according to the Saturday timetable. Routes 49 to Mellieha Bay, 50 to Rabat and 90 to Zabbar will remain in normal operation. Only the N13 and N212 will operate at night.

 

New Year’s Eve

Buses will operate on the Saturday schedule.

The 49 to Mellieha Bay, 50 to Rabat and 90 to Zabbar will remain in normal operation and all night buses will be running as normal.

 

New Year’s Day

All routes will operate on the Sunday schedule.

No buses will run between 12pm and 3pm with the last buses departing between 10am and 11.30am, depending on the length of the journey.
