Christmas is over in Malta which can only mean one thing – it’s time to think about taking down the decorations.
It’s the day everyone dreads, when you have to pack away the baubles, tinsel and lights for another year.
If you’re keeping with Christian traditions of Christmas then your tree should come down on January 5, on the eve of the feast of the Epiphany.
When should I take the decorations down?
The Twelfth Night, January 5, is widely considered to be the last day of the Christmas festivities.
According to superstition it is bad luck to leave your decorations up after the 5th.
The day of the Epiphany is January 6 and in Christian religions it celebrates the time the Three Wise Men visited baby Jesus.
What is the best way to store an artificial tree?
If you have an artificial tree the best way to store it is in the cardboard box it came in.
Keep baubles, tinsel and other decorations in plastic boxes to avoid them being crushed.
If you have glass ones wrap them in bubble wrap so they don’t crack.
Once everything is packed up place the boxes in a cool, dry place.
