Here’s Everything You Need To Know About Fashion Revolution Week 2021

Fashion Revolution Week is back on for its 4th year running, and will be returning from the 19th till the 25th of April with the aim of engaging people in the crucial conversation of the alarmingly high impacts of the fashion industry on our environment and society…

This demand for transparency among the fashion industry will be tackled across two campaigns, #WhoMadeMyClothes #LovedClothesLast.

#WhoMadeMyClothes will educate consumers on the need of transparency among brands whilst encouraging them to pressurize brands in 3 easy steps – turn your shirt inside out, take a selfie showing the label, upload it to social media asking #WhoMadeMyClothes? And nominate 3 friends to do the same!

Meanwhile, #LovedClothesLast sets out to shed light on the importance of making our clothes last longer to help reduce the environmental impact caused by the fashion industry. Luckily, Malta has recently seen a huge increase in alternative shopping options, like second-hand clothes becoming more accessible.

As for the scheduled events, first up will be Monday 19th April, which will see a live discussion about fast fashion vs. sustainable fashion on Instagram hosted by @earthguardians_malta and @fashrev_mlt.

Then, on Tuesday 20th April, there will be a live streamed ‘Tack & Chat’ sewing session featuring our own @tarynmamocefai, alongside @fashrev_mlt, who will be teaching a simple yet effective sewing skill that could help your clothes last longer.

On Wednesday 21st April, there will be another live discussion on Instagram by @rerootmalta and @fashrev_mlt that will look into the environmental and social impact of fashion.

And lastly, on Thursday 22nd April, Fashion Revolution Malta – with help of several speakers such as Emanuela Degiorgia and Tonya Lehtinen – will be hosting a ‘For the Love of Pre Loved’ live streamed panel discussion.

It will include the likes of @vogue_x_, @thevegboxmalta, thevintagecollection_mt, @inspire.malta, and @fashrev_mlt and will delve into the rise of second hand and vintage clothing locally and the attitudes towards it!
