Shortly after the production of “Jurassic World: Dominion” took place here in Malta, another movie, “Jetski”, which is being directed by James Nunn, is currently underway.
Written by Nick Saltrese, the survival thriller follows a group of spring-breakers in their weekend getaway to Mexico, but things don’t turn out as planned… After partying all day and night on the beach, they steal a few jet skis and take them out to sea, only to end up in a horrifying head-on collision.
Not only do they find themselves stranded two miles from land, but they only have one jet ski remaining, and a badly injured friend. With no clear way home and predators circling the rough seas, the horror begins.
The filming for “Jetski” started on the 14th of October and is being produced by Chris Reed, who you might recall from the crime series “Brotherhood”, and Andrew Prendergast. The movie will also feature actors such as Holly Earl from “Loving Vincent”, Jack Trueman, Catherine Hannay, Malchi Pullar-Latchman and Thomas Flynn, among others.
Whilst the movie was originally set to shoot in the Dominican Republic, COVID-19 happened, and so, they had to relocate to Europe (that is – under strictly safe guidelines, of course).
But against all odds, production goes on, and Andrew Prendergast states, “We are thrilled to be producing ‘Jetski’ on the beautiful island of Malta with such a talented cast and crew in these difficult times. ‘Jetski’ is a nail-biting ride that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats until the very last minute.”
