Here is What Went Down at Yesterday’s BRIT Awards

This year’s BRIT awards marked the 40th anniversary of the beginning of the ceremony, with singer Lewis Capaldi and rapper Dave the big-winners of the night.

Dave took home Album of the Year for his debut studio album Psychodrama which was released in 2019 and topped the UK album chart, and also won last year’s Mercury Prize.

Lewis Capaldi won Song of the Year for Someone You Loved and Best New Artist.

Mabel won Female Solo Artist and Stormzy won Male Solo Artist.

The Best Group BRIT Award went to Foals, while Billie Eilish, won International Female Solo Artist. Eilish – the youngest artist ever to record a 007 title track – performed her sombre James Bond theme song No Time To Die for the first time. Tyler, The Creator, won International Male Solo Artist.

Hosted by Comedian Jack Whitehall, the ceremony opened with a heartfelt tribute to Caroline Flack, who was also remembered by her ex Harry Styles who wore a black ribbon on the red carpet. Styles performed Falling on the BRIT Awards Stage – a performance which many viewers labeled as being dedicated to Caroline Flack.
