Next week October will finally begin. With so many events happening on the island, I’ve decided to pick a few that would possibly be of interest to you and give you some ideas on what you can do during the next couple of weeks!
Radio Italia Live – 4th October
We’ve all been hearing about this and waiting patiently for the 4th to arrive. Forming part of the Mediterranean Stars Festival, this is set to happen at the Granaries in Floriana.
Many renowned artists both locally and international will be hitting the stage to give you a night you won’t forget! Ira Losco, Emma, Alessandra Amoroso, Gigi D’Alessio, Umberto Tozzi, Mahmood and many other artists are set to perform.
Notte Bianca – 5th October
I think this is one of the most awaited events throughout the year here in Malta. Notte Bianca is Malta’s biggest annual arts and culture festival. For one night every year, Malta’s capital city, Valletta, is lit up with lights and offers a night-out for family and friends.
During Notte Bianca one can expect the very best music, dance, lights and cultural activities. Certain museums and palaces found in this city will be open to the public. Restaurants and shops will extend their opening hours so you’ll be pretty much set up for the night!
Birgu Fest – 11-12th October
This one will take place in one of Malta’s oldest and most historic cities – Vittoriosa, better known as Birgu. This city is surrounded by Kalkara, Bormla and Isla whilst being adjacent to the stunning Grand Harbour.
Just like in Notte Bianca, most of the museums and historical buildings will be open for the public at a discounted price. The streets of Birgu will be lit up by candles making it the most spectacular location on the island that weekend!
Malta Tattoo Expo – 11-13th October
The Malta Tattoo Expo is a yearly event that brings together hundreds of artists and tattoo enthusiasts from all over the world under one roof, for a fun-filled weekend full of art, music and shows.
October Ahoy! – 12-13th October
Pleasures and treasures abound! The seafaring, corsair themed month of activities are sure to dazzle and entertain.
Head to the stunning Valletta Waterfront and take in the beautiful Grand Harbour views. Join in the fun and enjoy quality time with family and friends during this weekend!
FJAKKOLATA – 13th October
Thousands of lanterns light up the city of Kercem in Gozo. Once a year this town mesmerises everyone with its beauty in the steps of a religious tradition to honour our Lady of Fatima.
Definitely recommend this night if you’re panning a romantic getaway!
The Rolex Middle Sea Race – 19th October
If you’re a boat or a sailing enthusiast this is the event for you! If you’re not, this is still the event for you! This race brings together the best in the sailing world to battle it out on Malta’s seas.
Passing from Stromboli, Messina and Lampedusa this is a yearly event that is awaited by many! Even if you’re not an enthusiast in sailing, the opening of this race that takes place at the Grand Harbour is one that I wouldn’t miss.
You can catch the departure of these sailing boats from the Upper Barakka and follow them as they exit the Grand Harbour.
Which of these events are you most looking forward to?!
