On Sunday, Adele took to Instagram to announce the exciting news that she would be hosting the popular skit show ‘Saturday Night Live’ on the 24th of October, alongside ‘H.E.R’ as the musical guest.
Whilst Adele is no newcomer to music, having even performed twice on SNL in 2008 and 2015, she stated this is her first time hosting a show! She expressed just how excited and “absolutely terrified” she is to be taking on this role.
“I’ve always wanted to do it as a stand alone moment, so that I could roll up my sleeves and fully throw myself into it, but the time has never been right. But if there was ever a time for any of us to jump headfirst into the deep end with our eyes closed and hope for the best it’s 2020 right?,” the singer wrote on Instagram.
“It’ll be almost 12 years to the day that I first appeared on the show, during an election…which went on to break my career in America, so it feels full circle and I just couldn’t possibly say no!”
As soon as the Instagram update was posted, several fans seem to have gone into a frenzy after being deluded into thinking she was releasing new music as one fan commented “I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE ALBUM YOU ABSOLUTE TEASE”. However, this TV comeback leads us to the one question of speculation on everyone’s lips ‘Could this mean that new Adele music is actually on the horizon?’
The last album she released was ‘Hello’ back in 2015 (Yes. It HAS been five whole years without any new Adele music getting us through breakups and heartbreaks). After kicking off her tour for the same album in 2016, the ‘Skyfall’ singer’s public presence very much diminished and this is her first major public appearance ever since.
Several passionate fans seem to be convinced this announcement will eventually lead to new music with one person saying, ‘If Adele’s SNL appearance doesn’t have anything to do with new music coming from her I will be LIVID.’ When considering her recently increased social media presence, in comparison to previous years, these fans might be on the right track!
Let’s be honest, we could all do with some new Adele music to brighten up this glum year. Do YOU think Adele might be surprising us with some new tracks?
