Without a doubt, this entire year has basically been spent indoors. But if you’re a true Harry Potter fan, you’d recall that Harry was no stranger to self-isolation and social distancing himself – I mean, he spent HOURS in a cupboard under the stairs! So, it looks like he can help us cope a little bit better with this pandemic…

J.K. Rowling announced the launch of “Harry Potter at Home” on Twitter. The site was created on a digital hub on WizardingWorld.com, and is full of fun crafts, quizzes, puzzles, and articles for fans. Through this virtual world, you can learn how to draw a cute little Niffler, troll in an online word search, and even check out a handy guide to reading the Harry Potter books for the first time if you’re a newcomer! This project is conjoined between Rowling’s publishing houses Bloomsbury and Scholastic.

And if that wasn’t magical enough for you… Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone was also recently made free on Audible! It’s narrated by Stephen fry and is completely free to stream.

Rowling also gave her go-ahead to teachers who’d like to record themselves reading any Harry Potter book to share with students (as long as it’s posted to a secure school network or on a closed video platform).

“Harry Potter at Home” is meant to help children stay intellectually stimulated during such a time, but you don’t have to be a student to enjoy the enchanting action! As the Wizarding World team said in the announcement, it’s “a place for you to feel the warmth of the fire in the Gryffindor common room or a much-needed hug from Mrs Weasley.”
