The Gozo to Malta helicopter service is to make a comeback.
Flights between the two islands will resume ‘soon’, according to Malta’s tourism minister Konrad Mizzi.
Speaking during a visit to the mothballed Gozo Heliport in Xewkija, he said: ‘This is an important service to Gozitans going abroad but also for tourists coming to Malta’.
He confirmed that the service will be run by the government rather than a private company.
It will kick off with a basic daily schedule which will then increase in frequency depending on demand.
Malta Air Charter operated the helicopter service between Xewkija and Luqa for 10 years but was forced to scrap it in 2005 as losses mounted.
