Gozo ferries ‘running on time’ despite strike action

Gozo Channel has told 89.7 Bay ferry services between Malta and Gozo have returned to normal despite strike action.

Harbour workers employed by a sub-contractor at the Mgarr ferry terminal walked out on Monday morning, disrupting crossings between the islands.

The employees walked out in a dispute over pay at 6am, forcing Gozo Channel to cancel the 6.45am trip to Malta.

The ferry company restored crossings after deploying other members of staff to assist in ferry berthing services.

Police officers were also drafted in to help control traffic around the Mgarr ferry terminal.
