Gozo’s fourth ferry is back in action after upgrade

Gozo Channel’s fourth ferry is back in action after a major upgrade.

The MV Nikolaus returned to service on Monday morning after spending nearly a month abroad for a re-fit.

New side doors have been installed on the ship to allow foot passengers to board directly from the terminals at Cirkewwa and Mgarr rather than having to use the car ramp.

Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana welcomed the ship and its Greek crew back to the Maltese Islands.

Gozo Channel has enjoyed a record-breaking year.

More than 1.7 million passengers travelled between Malta and Gozo during the summer, bringing the total for the first nine months to an impressive 4.4 million.
