Gozo Channel ferry out of action for the next six weeks

Gozo Channel has taken one of its ferries out of action for the next six weeks.

The MV Ta’ Pinu is in drydock ‘for routine maintenance works’.

The ferry operator said that the ship would return to service on February 16.

Gozo Channel‘s three other ferries, Gaudos, Malita and Nikolaos will cover trips between Mgarr and Cirkewwa in the meantime.

The Ta’ Pinu was built by Malta Shiipbuilding in 2000 and can carry 900 passengers.

It is able to transport 72 cars and an extra 66 using a hoistable deck.

Ta Pinu’s sister ship Malita suffered damage when it crashed into the jetty at Mgarr Harbour during stormy weather in November.
