Francesca Curmi Becomes Malta’s 1st Tennis Player In WTA’s Top 500

Maltese 20-year-old Francesca Curmi continues to have a superb 2022 season!

Our very own Francesca Curmi made history by becoming Malta’s first female tennis player to break into the Women Tennis Association Top Pro 500 weekly rankings.

The 20-year-old managed to reach the 490th place among thousands of active competitive pro woman players from nearly 100 countries. This week for pro-players aged under 21 she places in the world top 100.

Curmi Storms To ITF Semi Final And Final In Singles And Doubles

Francesca is currently training tennis full time in Barcelona whilst also competing in international tournaments. So far she has competed in 21 international tournaments and has played 46 international matches. Her win to loss ratio is the impressive percentage of nearly 70%.

However, this wasn’t the first time Curmi wrote Maltese tennis history.

Francesca was the first Maltese player to win professional tournaments in both Singles and Doubles competitions and Malta’s first-ever Silver medal at the Mediterranean Games in Oran.

We look forward to see Francesca progressing and continuing to make history.

Well done Francesca!
