Four brand new winter routes take off from Malta Airport

Malta International Airport has launched its winter flight schedule.

It includes four brand new routes as well as several route extensions from summer.

Three of the four new Ryanair services – from Paphos in Cyprus, Trieste in Italy and Santiago de Compostela in Spain – landed in Malta for the first time this week.

The passengers and crew were welcomed with cake-cutting ceremonies.

A spokeswoman said: ‘The introduction of these destinations, each one having its landmarks and unique offering, has widened the options for winter travel for people in Malta.

‘The Troodos Montains in Paphos and Santiago’s well-trodden camino make these two destinations ideal for travellers seeking exploration and adventure.

‘On the other hand, Trieste’s proximity to the Slovenian and Croatian borders renders the Italian destination an excellent starting point for a road trip, with some spectacular scenery along the way.’

The airport will unveil its fourth new winter route next month.
