A footbridge is to be built across one of Malta’s busiest roads to make it safer for pedestrians and cyclists.
Transport Minister Ian Borg said the new bridge over Corradino Hill in Paola would provide safer and easier access to MCAST for thousands of college students.
The plans were unveiled on Tuesday morning by Infrastructure Malta.
It said the bridge will reconnect families living in the Corradino Hill residential area with central Paola.
It will also improve access to the Corradino Industrial Estate as well as the mosque and the church in the same area.
Currently, to reach these locations, pedestrians need to cross several busy roads.
Infrastructure Malta said: ‘We plan to embellish the areas at the two ends of the bridge, including part of the Mediterranean Gardens.
‘The agency will replace a derelict area within this garden to open up a new pedestrian and cycling pathway that links the overpass with the existing bus stops on Paola Hill, the road leading to the centre of Paola.’
