Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana has ordered emergency work to repair two roads in danger of collapsing.
Shocking photos shared on social media show large cracks have appeared in Kenuna Street in Nadur, near the Kenuna Tower.
The photos were posted on the It-Toroq f’Ghawdex Facebook page, with many residents calling for urgent repairs before the road caves in.
Some described it as ‘a tragedy waiting to happen’.
Part of the street has now been closed off.
Nadur mayor Edward Said said the Ministry of Gozo had pledged to rebuild the stretch of road as soon as possible.
Just weeks ago, the main road from Nadur to Ramla Bay had to be closed after large cracks appeared in the tarmac.
On Tuesday, part of another street in Nadur caved in after Gozo was hit by gale-force winds and heavy rain.
A retaining wall on Madonna ta’ Fatima Street gave way following flooding in the area.
