Oscar-Winner Ennio Morricone passed away last night after complications following a fall some days ago. The 91-year old is one of the geniuses of Movie Soundtracks, having penned the music to classics such as Mission, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, La Cage aux Folles, and The Untouchables, to mention but a few.
Ennio Morricone’s funeral will be held in private “in respect of the feeling of humility that has always inspired the acts of his existence”. The Oscar-winner’s family announced this through their friend and lawyer Giorgio Assumma. Morricone, reads the note, died “at dawn on July 6 in Rome.
Assumma adds that the Maestro “has preserved lucidity and great dignity till the end. He saluted his beloved wife Maria who accompanied him with dedication in every moment of his human and professional life and was close to him until the last breath.
