A police investigation has been launched after an elderly woman was seriously injured in a car crash in Gozo.
Emergency services were called to Nadur just before 4pm on Monday afternoon after two cars collided on the Victoria Road – one of the worst accident blackspots in Gozo.
Fire crews were called to free the 81-year-old woman from the car and paramedics treated her at the scene.
Police said the accident happened when the driver, a 46-year-old woman from Sannat, lost control of her Seat Ibiza and crashed into a tree.
The elderly woman from Sannat and a 54-year-old woman from Nadur were passengers in the car.
All three woman were taken to Gozo General Hospital.
