Drugs worth €150,000 seized in hotel in Sliema

Malta Police have made two arrests after a major drugs seizure at a hotel in Sliema.

Cocaine with a street value of around €150,000 was discovered after a couple landed at Malta Airport on a flight from Paris.

A spokesman for Malta Police told 89.7 Bay: ‘A man and a woman from the Caribbean have been arrested.

‘They were found in possession of around two kilos of what is thought to be cocaine.

‘The couple were searched and arrested at a hotel in Sliema after arriving on a flight from Paris.’

Hendrick Albert Asaitie, 35, Brigitte Clarissa Moese, 20, were later charged in court in Valletta with importing the Class A drug.

Police said blocks of white powder had been found hidden in the woman’s underwear.

Both accused pleaded not guilty and were remanded in custody.
