*Sigh* Okay, hear me out. Yes, I know the title says ‘Home Alone Reboot’, but at least read about it before you dismiss it!
Three months until we’re #HomeSweetHomeAlone. The all-new Original Movie starts streaming November 12 on @DisneyPlus starring Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney, Archie Yates, Aisling Bea, Kenan Thompson, Tim Simons, Pete Holmes, Devin Ratray, Ally Maki, and Chris Parnell. pic.twitter.com/h9MijHB0m8

Disney has just announced Home Sweet Home Alone, a Disney+ reboot of the original famous Christmas movie Home Alone (or any time of the year, really).
Archie Yates, who you might recognise as Jojo’s best friend Yorki from 2019’s Jojo Rabbit, will be playing the role of our left-behind child, Max Mercer. The plot of the film revolves around Max having to protect his home from a married couple keen on stealing a priceless heirloom. Of course, all of us die-hard fans of the Home Alone franchise might share the same opinion as wyntergirl on Twitter:

However, what this film has really got going for it is its stellar cast. Apart from Yates, Ellie Kemper will be joining from The Office, as well as Rob Delaney from Catastrophe. They will be joined by Aisling Bea, Kenan Thompson, Tim Simons, Pete Holmes, Devin Ratray, Ally Maki, and Chris Parnell.
The screenplay will be based on the John Hughes original, written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell. It seems that this reboot marks the era of Disney’s remaking of old classics due to its recent merger with Fox.
Now that we’ve got the technical info out of the way, let’s talk feelings. As much as I’m hoping this will work because it would simply be amazing to have another Home Alone movie to look forward to, I’ve got my fingers firmly crossed that we don’t end up with something similar to any Home Alone made after the first two (Home Alone 4, I’m looking at you.)
