‘Despacito’ breaks a massive YouTube world record

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s fans can’t get enough of their infectious tune Despacito.

The song’s music video has racked up a record six billion views on YouTube.

It’s the first video in internet history to smash the huge milestone, beating its nearest rival – Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You – by 1.9 billion views.

YouTube said the music video reached six billion views on Sunday.

The multi-awarded song receives 2.8 million views a day.

YouTube said that at its peak, Despacito got 25.7 million views in a single day.

Fonsi celebrated the online milestone on Instagram by thanking everyone involved with the hit song, including Daddy Yankee.

The music video first made history in August 2017 when it became the first to reach three billion views.

An instant commercial hit, Despacito topped the charts in 47 countries and reached the top 10 in six others.
