The influential European publication Politico has ranked Malta as the EU Champion when it comes to the cumulative COVID-19 vaccination doses administered per 100 people, as at the 22nd January.
Malta’ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne shared the statistic on social media today which puts Malta at the top of the list with a percentage of 3.47% followed by Denmark and Ireland with 3.21% and 2.47% respectively.
Meanwhile, later on this week, the European Medicines Agency is set to approve the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University and manufactured by AstraZeneca. Malta has over 1 million doses of this vaccine ordered, and once approved, this will help to increase the rate at which the vaccine is being administered in Malta.
Following yesterday’s medical bulettin, some 18,930 doses of the vaccine were administered in Malta, until last Saturday.
