Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne has announced that following 825 swab tests in the past 24 hours, 52 new cases have been confirmed, making this the largest number to be ever announced since the outbreak started in Malta last months.
Hon Fearne was addressing a joint press conference with the Superintendent of Public Health, Prof Charmaine Gauci.
The total amount of cases has now gone up to 293. DPM Fearne said that the internal projections by the authorities had predicted the materialisation of this figure to occur last week, adding that the fact that this was delayed is a result of the effectiveness of the measures which are currently in place, and which, in their majority are being followed.
