Maltese couple Dennis and Dorelle Micallef have managed to raise a whopping €2,485 in aid of Puttinu Cares during the funeral of their son, Javier.
Unfortunately, their 14-year-old son died on the 26th of May, after battling a rare condition known as Rhombencephalosynapsis, in which parts of the brain lack water that enters into the brain during pregnancy.
Rhombencephalosynapsis is so rare that there is only around 50 cases around the globe. For Javier, the condition affected his development – so much so that he required a daily injection to be able to grow.
The couple presented their donation to Puttinu Cares as an appreciation for their assistance. Puttinu described them as ‘parents who gave all of us a great example, showing that in suffering there is also great love, gratitude and phenomenal respect.’
